Child and Adolescent
Counseling
-
Children and adolescents are
seen for play therapy and individual counseling for a variety of problems, such
as ADD/ADHD, depression, anxiety, trauma, behavior disorders, grief and loss issues,
divorce and custody issues, self-harm behaviors and risks. Parents are asked to be
available for consultations and family therapy sessions.
-
Marriage and Family
Therapy
-
Spouses or partners are usually
counseled together. Family therapy sessions may involve all family members, or subsets
such as siblings, parent and child, stepchildren, or extended family members. Marital
or family therapy sessions are geared toward identifying current problem areas as well
as strengths, and to engage each member in changes that create new paths and patterns
in relating that enhance the quality life for all involved.
-
Divorce and Custody
Facilitation
-
Help is offered to divorcing or already
divorced couples to facilitate decision-making regarding children. Post-divorce aid is
given to coordinate parent-to-parent communication and problem resolution, to keep the
focus working together for the children.
-
Anxiety, Stress, Trauma, Phobias,
Depression, Grief and Loss, Adult ADD

A more eclectic, individualized approach
to counseling is offered in the relief of these and other issues. Typical therapies used
include: cognitive-behavioral therapy; hypnotherapy; EMDR (eye movement desensitization and
reprocessing); supportive therapy; family systems therapy; and, recently the addition of
energy psychologies.
-
Hypnosis
-
Stress reduction, habit control (such as
smoking cessation, weight control), and pain management are supported by hypnosis,
relaxation and imagery. Individual sessions may be audio-taped for clients use on their own.
